In Japan, there are many earthquakes. The 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake occerd at 2:46pm on friday 11/3/2011. It was a magunitude 9.0. The epicentre was approximately 70 killometers east of the Osika Peninsula of Tohoku and the hypocenter was at an underwater depth of approximately 30 km. It was the most powerful known earthquake ever to have hit Japan, and the fifth most powerful earthquake in the world since 1900. the damages were that 15,883 were deaths, 6,150 injured, and 2,643 missing accros twenty prefetures, as well as 129,225 bulidings totally collapsed, and another 691,766 buildings partially damaged. the earthquake and tunami also caused extensive and sever atructual damage in north-eastern Japan ,including heavy damage to roads and railways as well as fires in many areas, and a dam collapse. Around 4.4 million househols in northestern were left whithout electricity and 1.5 million without water.
